A detailed syllabus and reading list for each subject will be provided to students. Each subject syllabus clearly defines the areas that student will be required to cover for each subject and examination questions will be based on the areas and topics detailed for each subject.

Examinations:

Externally set and marked by the Institute of Commercial Management. Examinations are held in March, June, September and December each year. Candidates must be registered and paid-up Student Members of the Institute of Commercial Management at the time they undertake the examinations.

Admission Eligibility:

The Institute of Commercial Management operates an ‘Open Entry’ policy in respect of many of its vocational programmes but prospective students should note that the following entrance qualifications are recommended for those wishing to undertake the Diploma in Business Studies.

1. The ICM Business Studies Group Certificate
2. The ICM Certificate in Commercial Studies
3. One GCE A-level plus Three GCSEs (or equivalents)
4. Five GCSEs at grades A, B or C (or equivalents)
5. A suitable BTEC National Award
6. Any qualification equivalent to one of the above.

HNC Business / HND Business (Management)

Mode of Study: Full-Time Study (16-21 hours of guided study per week)

The HNC/D in Business & Management can be studied as stand-alone programmes or can form part of a three-year degree programme leading to the University of Sunderland BA (Hons) Business Management, Successful completion of the HND allows direct entry to a one-year top-up to Honours Degree.

Admission Eligibility:

There are no formal entry requirements, however candidates should have achieved a certain academic level equivalent to an ‘A’ Level or GNVQ, or have at least two years full-time work experience. Suitable English proficiency required.
